Must-Have: Strong Neuro Skills Description: This position is for a
Registered Nurse in an Acute Rehabilitation setting. The unit has a
total of 29 beds. The nurse-to-patient ratio is 5:1 during the day
and 6:1 at night. The common types of patients include those with
neurological issues, neurosurgery, amputations, multi-trauma cases,
cardiac conditions, and complex medical needs such as
tracheostomies. Nurses are not required to titrate infusions,
except for heparin. Telemetry may be available but is not monitored
by RNs. Registered Nurses will be required to attend team
conferences. House supervisors are available for support. There are
nurse aides on the unit with a ratio of 1:9 or 1:10. Physical
therapy, occupational therapy, and speech therapy services are
provided. Respiratory therapy is available and can manage CPAP and
BiPAP for sleep apnea. Shifts are from 7 AM to 7:30 PM for days and
7 PM to 7:30 AM for nights. Nurses are required to work every other
weekend and participate in a holiday rotation. Floating to other
departments will be necessary but will not include floating to
acute hospitals unless trained. There is no specific dress code for
scrubs but t-shirts are not permitted unless approved.
Unit-specific orientation includes classroom training and hands-on
experience with a preceptor. The charting system used is EPIC.
