Registered Nurse (RN) | Medical-Surgical Location: Normal, IL Agency: Cynet Health Pay: $2,362 per week Shift Information: Nights - 3 days x 12 hours Contract Duration: 13 Weeks Start Date: 2/23/2026 About the Position Job Title: Registered Nurse Profession: Nursing Specialty: Clinical Resource Unit Duration: 13 weeks Shift: Night Hours per Shift: 12 Experience: Minimum years of experience required License: Nursing License Certifications: BLS (AHA) Must-Have: - Ability to float to multiple units and provide care to diverse patient populations. - Ability to manage care for both acute and chronically ill cardiac and pulmonary patients. - Ability to develop, implement, and modify patient care plans. - Skill in medication administration and evaluating medication effects. - Skill in preparing patients for procedures and managing post-operative care. - Skill in IV venipuncture and blood administration. - Ability to document care accurately using EMR. - Ability to educate patients and families on care plans and discharge instructions. - Ability to provide constructive feedback and assist in professional development of peers. - Ability to handle conflict management and maintain professional communication with team members. - Skill in critical thinking to assess patient status and take appropriate action. - Ability to collaborate effectively with interdisciplinary team members. - Ability to prioritize patient safety and adhere to all safety standards including fall precautions, pressure ulcer prevention, and ambulation safety. - Ability to complete patient bedside shift reports, hourly rounding, and maintain updated patient communication boards. - Ability to delegate appropriately and follow up on delegated tasks. Description: The Clinical Resource Unit is committed to providing exceptional care. Nursing staff, nurse leaders, interdisciplinary team members, and physician partners work together in this unit. Specialized medical and nursing care is offered to various inpatient units. Medical diagnoses include coronary artery disease, myocardial infarction, strokes, cancer, and post-surgical care. The environment is fast-paced, exciting, and always evolving. Job Responsibilities: Perform all responsibilities and duties required by the unit as specific to the scope of service. Implement procedures and theories related to the specific area of practice. Maintain up-to-date and accurate documentation of nursing care provided. Complete initial assessment upon patient admission and develop a plan of care based on patient and family needs. Implement plan of care, nursing interventions, and patient care procedures. Modify the plan of care based on continuous evaluation. Take responsibility for patient and employee safety by reporting hazards and incidents. Communicate with others directly and privately when necessary to resolve issues. Provide constructive feedback to assist in the professional development of peers. Confers with colleagues to expand knowledge base. Identify own learning needs and take initiative for appropriate solutions. Fulfill all requirements of departmental competencies. Float to various inpatient units and provide direct nursing care. Conduct and document assessments, nursing diagnoses, plans, implements, and evaluates patient care. Act as a resource to staff from various units. Coordinate care with multidisciplinary team members to provide quality patient care. Manage care of acute and chronically ill cardiac and pulmonary patients. Collaboratively identify patient goals of care and design care plans. Implement interventions as needed including medication administration and evaluation of effects. Prepare patients for procedures, provide pain management, perform IV venipuncture, and monitor labs. Discharge patients and provide instruction for safe transition. Document all care using EMR. Ensure team huddles are occurring and attend them. Delegate with appropriate follow-up. Answers call lights promptly. Ensure basic care such as turning and toileting is completed per standards. Handle conflict management and maintain professional communication with team members. Provide post-operative care for the surgical population. Complete and document basic RN patient care activities such as assessments and interpretation of vital signs. Ensure physician order completion and patient education. Follow the patient 5 Rights for medication administration. Maintain patient safety as the highest priority by ensuring compliance with safety measures. Maintain a positive attitude that promotes a healthy work environment and healing patient environment. Focus on prompt answering of patient call lights for effective triage and completion of requests. Use critical thinking to evaluate patient conditions and act on changes. Communicate within the healthcare team to promote collaboration and patient safety. Assess and intervene appropriately during the post-operative phase. Manage and educate patients and families effectively. Receive patient Bedside Shift Report from an RN at the beginning of each shift. Include patient input and ensure a safe patient room environment at the time of shift change. Update the patient communication board in each patient room.
